Pub Golf

Origin: Pub golf grew out of British student towns and has been played with a scorecard, a dress code and a rulebook since the 1990s. Every pub is a hole, every drink has a par, and as in golf the lowest number wins.

Setup: Pick nine venues, note a drink and a par for each. Scorecard on paper, do not forget the pen. Golf clothing is traditional.

Par examples:

• Pint of beer: par 4
• Long drink: par 3
• Soft drink or water: par 5, explicitly allowed
• Shot: par 1

How to play:

1. At each hole every sip counts as one stroke
2. Under par means a birdie or an eagle on the card
3. Not finishing your drink costs two penalty strokes
4. After nine holes the lowest total wins

Penalty strokes:

• Spilling: one stroke
• Wrong glass or wrong order: one stroke
• Toilet break between holes: one stroke

Common sense: Nine venues is a long round. Do not drive, plan food, and agree beforehand who stays sober.
