How to play

Origin: The glass beer boot is a German pub curiosity of the 19th century. Legend has a Prussian general promising his troops a victory and having to drink from his boot afterwards, whereupon a glassblower rebuilt the boot in glass. It went global through the film Beerfest.

Setup: A beer boot or a large footed glass, well filled, everyone in a circle.

How to play:

  1. Raise the boot with the toe pointing up and pass it round
  2. Everyone drinks as much as they like and hands it on
  3. Tip the toe downwards and an air bubble shoots through, spraying the beer
  4. So just before the end, turn the boot 90 degrees

Drinking:

  • Trigger the bubble and soak yourself: you refill the boot
  • Take the last sip and you buy the next round
  • Put the boot down without drinking and you drink double

Trick: Do not tip it, rotate it. Then it pours calmly from the shaft.
