Origin: The buffalo club is an American ongoing game passed down at colleges and in military units for decades. The common story traces it to gunfighters who had to keep their shooting hand free. Once you join, you are a member for life.

Joining: Anyone who hears the rule is a member. There is no leaving.

The rule: You drink only with your weak hand, so the left one for right handed people.

How to play:

1. Catch someone drinking with their strong hand and shout buffalo
2. The offender finishes their glass at once
3. A false call costs the caller a glass instead

Fine print:

• Putting the glass down and picking it up with the correct hand is clean
• When toasting, the drinking hand counts, not the clinking one
• Two callers at once: both may watch, the offender drinks anyway
