How to play
Origin: The boat race is a British university tradition named after the Oxford and Cambridge rowing regatta. Sports clubs and college bars have run it as a team contest for decades.
Setup: Two teams of equal size line up facing each other. Everyone has an equally full glass in front of them.
How to play:
- On the signal the first player of each team drains their glass
- The empty glass goes upside down on their head before the next player may start
- Starting early means starting that glass again
- The team whose last player finishes first wins
Drinking: The losing team drinks a penalty round together, traditionally half a glass each.
Fairness: Same glasses, same fill, one neutral referee. Anything else ends in an argument.
